Turning the Point. How to bring an urban constellation into dancing.

A project in three sequences by Katharina Schlieben, Pia Lanzinger und Sven Sappelt.

Turning the Point is an attempt to bring together local neighbourhoods, civil society initiatives and cultural practices around Moritzplatz in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

Sequence 01 Checkpoint Moritz

The first sequence Checkpoint Moritz combines an archival panorama with new encounters. This includes artistic works that have dealt with Moritzplatz in recent decades, as well as documentary evidence from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Pia Lanzinger also invites people to take part in vocally offensive tours and encounters under the name KreisverChor. The project takes the risk of going on the offensive in the mode of associative singing together with groups and initiatives from the neighbourhood, thus giving the ‘Checkpoint’ a further twist.
