Marcos Meza (1984) is a Berlin-based Chilean pianist and composer. He began playing classical piano at the age of seven, complemented with a bachelor in popular music at the Modern School of Music and Dance in Santiago, Chile. Encompassing instrumental music with the piano at the center, his work explores impressionist and new-classical sonorities combined with elements of electronic music.
His latest album Piano Reveries was released in late 2023 by La Casona Records and comprises ten instrumental tracks showcasing his passion for the piano, cinematic music, ambient, sound experimentation, and serves as a tribute to one of his most influential composers, Maurice Ravel, combined with glimpses of Berlin’s underground electronic music scene.
On Saturday, May 25th Piano Reveries will debut live at CLB Berlin, featuring Meza on keyboards and electronics, accompanied by modern jazz drummer Andsuaz. Those who together explore the sounds and rhythms inherent to drum and bass and broken beats. The album will be performed in full, from beginning to end, along with selections from Meza’s previous works. The event will begin with a performance of distinguished Japanese producer Mergrim, presenting his latest work for modular synthesizers.
Mergrim (a.k.a Takahisa Mitsumori) is a Japanese artist based in Berlin. He has established himself at the forefront of the advanced electronic music movement in Tokyo. His music spans across downtempo, ambient, and minimalist genres, featuring modular synths, hardware, and various experimental sound equipment.
Andsuaz (Andrés Suazo) is a Chilean musician and drummer living in Berlin. After completing his architecture studies at UCH University in Chile, he delved into music, studying with prestigious drummers Andy Baeza and Pablo Martínez, where he developed his true passion. His musical style engages with modern Jazz, breakbeat, hip hop, and drum and bass. In 2022, he released his debut album Archipielago, where he is on full display as a composer, producer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist performing and layering drums, percussion, piano, synthesizers and more, a record he continues to promote to this day.
